The Perfect Solution to Menu Management

As every hotel and restaurant manager knows, Christmas brings its own unique challenges with it. Office Christmas parties are a regular fixture throughout December and, as they have often been booked weeks or even months in advance, getting the meals in front of the right people can be difficult.

That’s why we invented the Place Card Devil. It is an ingenious solution to the problem of diners who have forgotten what they ordered, and matching up the numbers being prepared in the kitchen with what’s expected at the table.

Imagine this.

  • A group of diners arrive at your restaurant. On a table at the entrance are named place cards for each of them. They each take their place card, notice that their menu selections are printed on it, and they take it with them to the table. They have an opportunity to speak to someone immediately if they think their menu selection is wrong, and it is a useful memory jogger if they’ve forgotten what they ordered.
  • When the waiting staff come out of the kitchen with the meals, they can see at a glance who has ordered what, without having to interrupt conversations or call out “Who’s having the beef?”. What’s more, the chef can be confident that every diner is receiving the right meal and there is no need to prepare spare dishes to cater for the person who is sure they ordered the salmon, when all the salmon has already been claimed.
